About Longevity Simplified
Simple longevity tips based on real research, not hype.
I’m Simon, and Longevity Simplified is my ongoing project to turn complex ageing science into clear, practical steps you can use in everyday life.
How This All Started
My interest in longevity began after reading books like The Singularity Is Near and discovering the work of Aubrey de Grey. They opened up a simple but powerful idea for me: ageing is not just random decline. It is driven by biological processes that we can measure, understand and influence.
At the same time, I noticed something else. Most people are busy and overwhelmed. They do not have the time or energy to dig through research papers or podcasts to work out what actually helps them live longer and feel better.
Longevity Simplified grew out of that gap. I wanted a place where you could get clear, down to earth explanations of topics like:
- What ageing really is at the cellular level
- How habits like sleep, movement and nutrition change your healthspan
- Which supplements and tools have evidence behind them, and which are mostly noise
The goal is not perfection or biohacking extremes. It is practical, science informed habits that regular people can stick to over the long term.
How I Research and Write Content
I am not a doctor and this site is not a replacement for personal medical advice. What I do instead is act as a translator between the research world and everyday life.
When I write a guide for Longevity Simplified, I aim to:
- Start with reputable sources such as PubMed indexed studies, large cohort data and respected health organisations
- Look for patterns where different studies and experts broadly agree, not one off headlines
- Explain concepts in plain English with everyday examples
- Be honest about uncertainty, limits of the evidence and where experts still disagree
Many articles also include a short references section at the end so you can see where key ideas came from and explore further if you want to go deeper.
You should always speak with your GP or another qualified professional before making big changes to your health, especially if you have a condition or take medication. Think of this site as a guide and conversation starter, not a diagnosis or treatment plan.
What You Will Find on Longevity Simplified
The site is built around a few key areas that support healthy ageing.
- Foundations of longevity: Start with the core concepts on the Start Here page. It explains why longevity matters, what ageing is and the basic systems you can support.
- Deep dive guides: Articles on sleep, movement, blood sugar, stress, autophagy and metabolic flexibility that turn research into practical steps.
- Simple longevity tips: Short, clear ideas you can apply in daily life without overhauling everything at once.
- Resources and tools: On the Resources page I list products and books that I believe offer good value and support healthy habits. Some are Amazon affiliate links which help keep the site running at no extra cost to you.
Everything is written with a UK reader in mind, but most principles apply wherever you live.
How to Use This Site
- Begin with the Foundations. Read the four core guides on ageing, autophagy and metabolic flexibility on the Start Here page.
- Pick one area to improve. Sleep, stress, movement or food. Choose one guide that matches what you are struggling with right now.
- Take one action, not ten. Add a short walk after dinner, improve your bedtime routine or upgrade one meal. Small steps that you can repeat beat big changes that fade after a week.
- Use the Resources page when needed. If you want a supplement, book or tool, check the curated list rather than scrolling through endless product pages.
Longevity is a long game. You do not have to get everything right to make meaningful progress. One habit at a time is enough.
